2022-12-02 Implementation of DNSSEC security extension
The Internet Service Centre at Kaunas University of Technology has implemented DNS (Domain Name System) security extension DNSSEC in the self-service website domains.lt which provides the services of creation and management of .lt, .eu, .info, .com, .org, .net second-level domains.
DNSSEC helps reduce the risk that website visitors will be redirected to a fake website after entering a website address protected by DNSSEC technology in their browser. DNSSEC technology enables reliable authentication of responses to DNS queries, preventing them from tampering.
Domains.lt clients can activate DNSSEC for all their domains managed in the self-service, which are using domains.lt DNS servers. This can be done by logging into domains.lt
, selecting the menu “Domain management” and marking the checkbox “Enable DNSSEC”
2022-09-09 The terms and conditions applicable to .eu domain holders are changing
EURid (the registry manager of the .eu top-level domains) have modified these Terms and Conditions for the following reasons:
- to comply with the new legal framework for .eu domain names (Regulation 2019/517 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 19 March 2019 and its accompanying Acts).
- to make the new Terms and Conditions clearer and more accessible by combining the existing Terms and Conditions and Registration Policy into one document. In doing so, EURid have also removed the procedural and technical information from the Registration Policy and published it separately on website https://eurid.eu/

The new Terms and Conditions will take effect on 13 October 2022 and by keeping and renewing your domain name(s), you confirm having read and accepted the modified terms and conditions.
If you do not agree with the new Terms and Conditions, you may choose to delete your domain name(s) before the effective date sending official signed domain deletion request to us by email hostmaster@domains.lt.

2021-01-01 The updated website domains.lt is more convenient and informative
The Internet Service Centre at Kaunas University of Technology has updated the website of the activities of the domain registrar https://domains.lt/en/ which provides the services of creation and management of the second-level .lt, .eu, .info, .com, .org, .net domains.
For the convenience of the customers, besides the previously applied payment by bank transfer, the new website has an installed option of payment for the services using the e-banking system popular in Lithuania or payment cards. Since the confirmation of the person’s identity is required, the first payment for the new customers is available via the bank transfer or the e-banking system.
A two-factor authentication option has been installed to increase the safety of the accounts of the domain holders. Even though it is sufficient for the customers to use their login name and password to connect to their account at https://domains.lt/en/, it is recommended to activate an additional two-factor authentication. It would strengthen the security of the customer’s data, increase the protection of the customer’s account against the unauthorised login and guarantee the reliable management of the data associated with this account.
2020-11-27 Terms and fees of services will change from 2021 January 1
From 1 January 2021 the standard conditions of contracts for services will be applied to the customers served by Kaunas University of Technology, amended and supplemented in order to create a more convenient possibility to pay in various ways:

2020-04-15 EURid will be perform additional checks on the registration data of .eu domain names that contain keywords related to COVID-19
In order to protect end-users from possible misuses of domain names associated with the current COVID-19 (coronavirus) emergency, .eu registry EURid has implemented a set of measures in agreement with the European Commission.
EURid will be perform additional checks on the registration data of .eu domain names that contain keywords related to the current COVID-19 pandemic. Registrants of domain names containing detected keywords will be required to validate their data and to submit a statement confirming that their domain name was registered in ‘good faith’ within seven (7) calendar days.
In cases where a new registered or delegated .eu domain name contains keywords related to the current pandemic, and where EURid has been informed or discovered that the domain is resolving into a suspicious website, the above confirmations must be provided within three (3) calendar days.
Failure to take the requested actions from existing registrations within the applicable timeframes, the domain name will be ‘suspended’ in accordance with our standard procedure (i.e. it will remain on the register database, but its services will not function).

2016-02-12 URL redirection
It’s now possible to create URL redirections using domains.lt WEB panel. Using URL redirection one can forward domain to any valid URL.
2013-03-26 DNSSEC for .lt domain
Users using their own DNSSEC enabled DNS servers can specify DS records for .lt domains. More information can be found on the .lt domain administrator's website.
2009-09-08 DNS records TTL management
Clients using our DNS servers can control DNS records TTL value. When a recursive nameserver queries the authoritative nameserver for a resource record, it will cache that record for the time (in seconds) specified by the TTL. If unsure, you should simply keep default TTL value picked by the system.
2008-04-21 DNS zone loading
Domains.lt offers option to load DNS zone from file (RFC1035 format, used by BIND DNS server). This function is useful if currenly you are running Your own DNS server, but would prefer to manage zone via domains.lt web panel instead.
2007-03-13 KTU domain registration website has been started
KTU domains registration site became functional. For the moment you can register only .lt domains (we do regiser .eu domains in separate site). After further development it will be possible to register .lt, .eu, .com, .net, .info, .org domains.
