What to do if a domain name is reserved or blocked?

The registrant can create a second-level domain if the preferred domain name is available. To ensure the domain name’s compliance with the requirements, the registrant should check the domain before the creation.

The domain is marked as “reserved” at https://www.domreg.lt/en/services/whois/ database if the domain name contains the name of Lithuania, i.e., if any part of the domain name, excluding the hyphens, is included in the list of reserved labels. The right to use the name of the country is granted by the law or under the procedure stipulated by the Government. In this case, the registrant has to apply and receive permission from the Communications Regulatory Authority of the Republic of Lithuania. Individual permission is not required in the cases when the name of Lithuania is used in the name or trademark and design of the legal entity and the domain name requested to be registered by the registrant is equivalent to the name or trademark and design of the legal entity.

Information on what to do if the .lt domain name is reserved is available on the website of .lt registry at https://www.domreg.lt/en/faq/for-persons-who-want-to-have-a-domain/what-to-do-if-your-preferred-domain-name-is-reserved/

The domain name is blocked if it contravenes the procedural regulation of the .lt domain. Regarding the creation of the blocked domain that contravenes the regulation, the registrant has to apply to the .lt registry.
